Our Mission
At Oakover, our mission is to ethically breed Golden Retrievers that exemplify the best qualities of the breed — sound health, high intelligence, and gentle, well-balanced temperaments.
This is not just a hobby for us; it’s a passion my husband and I have invested our time, energy, and resources into wholeheartedly. We believe in breeding with purpose and integrity. Each of our dogs is carefully selected based on extensive health testing, temperament, and breed standard, with the goal of producing puppies that thrive both physically and emotionally.
We conduct thorough genetic and orthopedic health screenings to minimize the risk of inherited conditions. DNA testing alone is not enough — understanding and transparently sharing the results is critical. We are open and honest with all health testing outcomes, including hip and elbow scores, because we believe prospective puppy families deserve that clarity. As of July 15, 2025, the breed average hip score is 10.82 and the median is 8. To improve breed standards, we do not breed dogs with scores above these benchmarks in line with best practice in Australia.
Our dogs are also clear of PRA1 and PRA2 — hereditary eye conditions that can cause blindness by age 4. We are committed to preventing the passing of harmful genetic traits and ensuring the long-term wellbeing of the breed.
We raise our Golden Retrievers on a spacious, loving farm where they are part of our family — not kennelled or caged. They receive proper nutrition, veterinary care, and benefit from early neurological stimulation (ENS), early scent introduction (ESI), and socialisation from an early age.
We believe in quality over quantity, so we breed selectively and do not have litters available year-round. This ensures that every dog and every puppy receives the love, attention, and care they deserve.
Above all, we aim to match our puppies with homes that will love and cherish them as much as we do — because we’re not just raising dogs; we’re raising your future best friend.
