Our Mission

At Oakover, we are passionate about ethically breeding Golden Retrievers that reflect everything people love about the breed — sound health, beautiful temperaments, intelligence, and loving, family-oriented natures.

For us, this is far more than a hobby. My husband and I have poured our hearts, time, and energy into creating a breeding program built on honesty, integrity, and genuine care for our dogs. Every pairing is carefully planned with health, temperament, structure, and the long-term wellbeing of the breed in mind.

Health testing is a major priority at Oakover. All of our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive genetic and orthopedic testing, including hip and elbow scoring and DNA screening for hereditary conditions relevant to Golden Retrievers. We believe transparency matters, which is why we openly share and explain our dogs’ health results with prospective families.

Our dogs are clear of PRA1 and PRA2 — hereditary eye diseases that can lead to early blindness — and we are committed to reducing the risk of inherited conditions wherever possible. In line with best breeding practices in Australia, we carefully consider hip and elbow scores and only breed dogs that meet the standards we believe help improve and protect the future of the breed. We also believe in looking at a dog holistically and at the bigger picture and not just numbers.

Our Goldens are raised on our spacious family farm where they live as part of our everyday lives — never in kennels or cages. They are loved, well-socialised, and given the best possible start through proper nutrition, veterinary care, early neurological stimulation (ENS), early scent introduction (ESI), and positive exposure to the world around them.

We believe in quality over quantity and breed selectively, which means we do not have puppies available year-round. This allows us to give every dog and every litter the individual care, attention, and love they deserve.

Above all, our goal is simple: to raise happy, healthy Golden Retrievers and place them into homes where they will be cherished for a lifetime — because these puppies are more than dogs, they’re future best friends.

Alba

Alba was born on the 23/08/2023. She is a beautiful, cheeky girl with a huge vibrant personality. She is known for her playful nature, and she is thief when you're not watching her. She has an absolute love for swimming in any body of water or puddle. She speaks on command or is especially vocal when she wants food. Her stunning dark red coat adds to her unique charm.

Bunny

Bunny is one of our own bred puppies. Her birthday is the 30/05/2023. She is very gentle, soft and affectionate with a particular fondness of cats. Her coat displays a rich, traditional golden colour. She is a beloved family member and sleeps on my daughter’s bed every night. She is highly intelligent, and has mastered a variety of impressive tricks.

Yeti

Yeti is our promising upcoming stud male born 05/04/2025. He has traveled all the way from New Zealand and comes from a distinguished line, with his father being a full pedigree field retriever. Once his adult coat grows in, Yeti will showcase a beautiful, dark coat. He is a very chill, handsome little dude and has seamlessly become a beloved part of our family.
