Puppy Packs & Price

Oakover puppies are anything but ordinary. Through every step, we've focused on staying true to our values and what matters most when it comes to producing the healthiest, most loveable companions.

Pricing & What Is Included

Our Golden Retriever puppies are $6,000, with a $1,000 non-refundable reservation fee required to secure your puppy. The reservation fee is deducted from the total purchase price.

At Oakover Retrievers, we believe that responsible breeding is about much more than producing puppies. Our pricing reflects the significant investment of time, dedication, knowledge, resources, and financial commitment required to maintain a high-quality breeding program. This includes comprehensive health testing, ongoing veterinary care, premium nutrition, registration costs, enrichment, and raising each puppy to give them the very best start in life.

Our puppies are raised in our family home and are handled daily by our family of six from the day they are born. As they grow, they are introduced to everyday household experiences and life on our farm. They are carefully socialised with our adult dogs, cats, chickens, geese, and even the occasional cow, helping them develop into confident, adaptable companions.

Our Puppy Raising Program

Days 3-16: Early Neurological Development

From 3 to 16 days of age, each puppy participates in:

  • Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)

  • Early Scent Introduction (ESI)

These scientifically supported exercises help build resilience, confidence, and adaptability from an early age.

2 Weeks: Worming Program

At two weeks of age, puppies begin their worming protocol.

We alternate between Drontal and Milbemax throughout their worming schedule. Unfortunately, hookworm resistance has become increasingly common, and rotating products helps reduce parasite resistance while providing more effective parasite control.

3 Weeks: New Experiences Begin

From three weeks of age, puppies begin:

  • Introduction to open crate training

  • Introduction to high-quality solid foods

Our puppies are weaned onto premium diets including Frontier pets.

4 Weeks: Exploring the World

At four weeks, puppies enjoy:

  • Their first bath and blow dry

  • Supervised outdoor adventures

  • Exposure to a variety of surfaces, textures, sounds, and environments

These experiences help develop confidence and curiosity during this important stage of development.

5 Weeks: Building Independence

Around five weeks of age we begin:

  • Short, positive closed-door crate training sessions

  • Individual temperament assessments

We use the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test alongside our own daily observations to evaluate each puppy's personality, confidence, energy level, and suitability for different lifestyles.

5-6 Weeks: Puppy Matching

Between five and six weeks of age, puppies are thoughtfully matched with their families.

This process is never based on colour alone. We carefully consider each family's lifestyle, preferences, experience, and goals, together with each puppy's temperament, ensuring the best possible lifelong match.

6 Weeks: Veterinary Health Check

At six weeks, every puppy visits our licensed veterinarian and receives:

  • A comprehensive 12-point health examination

  • First vaccination

  • Microchip implantation

Each family receives a copy of their puppy's veterinary health certificate.

7 Weeks: Travel Preparation

If required, puppies travelling by road or air will receive a Fit to Fly/Fit for Transport Certificate, ensuring they are healthy and ready for their journey to their new home.

8 Weeks: Ready for Home

From eight weeks of age, puppies are legally able to leave for their new families.

By this stage they have experienced a wide variety of handling, enrichment, socialisation, crate training, grooming, and daily household routines, giving them an excellent foundation for life.

New for Our Program

From the end of this year (pending logistics), we hope to introduce an additional health screening to our program.

Before leaving for their new homes, each puppy travelling through Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast will undergo an ACES eye examination performed by a specialist veterinary ophthalmologist.

Although all of our breeding dogs have current clear eye examinations and are DNA clear or not affected by Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), we believe this specialist examination provides an extra level of reassurance for our puppy families.

Please note that this additional eye examination will only be available for puppies travelling through Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast. Unfortunately, puppies being collected from our home or meeting points such as Toowoomba will not be eligible due to transport logistics.

What is an ACES Eye Clearance?

An ACES Eye Clearance is a specialist eye examination performed by a registered veterinary ophthalmologist through the Australian Canine Eye Scheme (ACES). It assesses the overall health and structure of your puppy's eyes, helping identify inherited and developmental eye conditions that cannot always be detected through DNA testing alone. While an ACES clearance reflects your puppy's eye health on the day of examination, regular veterinary check-ups remain an important part of lifelong eye care.

Because every puppy we raise will become someone's whole world, we believe they deserve nothing less than our very best.
